Green tea is credited with offering many benefits and a lot of them are proven, but did you know green tea can also improve your sex life?
It might sound crazy, but it’s true and, when it comes to putting extra lead in your pencil, one particular kind of green tea offers stiff competition. It’s called Matcha. It’s the kind of tea that is used in traditional Japanese tea ceremonies and part of its secret lies in the way it is prepared.
Why Matcha Green Tea So Different From Normal Green Tea
The normal green tea beverage is just small pieces of the leaves taken from tea bushes (camellia sinensis) and the beverage is prepared by steeping the leaves in hot water for 30 seconds or more. The leaves are then discarded. Matcha tea is made by grinding the leaves until they form a fine powder. This powdered form of green tea is easy to dissolve in water. None of the leaves are wasted and all of the antioxidants and important nutrients are retained.
The special nature of matcha causes it to have a caffeine content that is almost as high as coffee. However, green tea is also a good source of l-theanine (amino acid), which has the ability to temper the effects of caffeine, allowing it to provide the same energy buzz and improvement in concentration, without the risk of jitters or similar caffeine-related side effects. In fact, rather than having people “bouncing off the walls”, the combination of caffeine and l-theanine relaxes the body without causing drowsiness. Some matcha lovers describe the caffeine buzz provided as an “alert calm”.
The preparation method is not the only difference between matcha and normal green tea. The tea bushes that are going to be harvested for making matcha are grown under the cover of special cloths that shade them from the sun. This ensures the leaves have a superior flavor and texture.
After the leaves have been removed from the bushes they are given a brief steam treatment to prevent fermentation. They are then dried and allowed to age in cold storage. This treatment further enhances the flavor.
Matcha as a Libido Enhancer
The way matcha tea is grown and prepared allows it to provide the maximum amount of green tea catechins and polyphenols. These important compounds help protect the body from disease and enhance the health in many different ways. A fit and healthy body is capable of enjoying and providing better sex, but the benefits don’t end there.
Green tea also encourages vasodilation. This is a process whereby the walls of the blood vessels are relaxed and become slightly dilated, causing the blood pressure to lower and the circulation to improve. This makes it possible for the blood to carry extra oxygen and nutrients around the body. This benefits the brain and other important organs and, in the case of a man, it also improves blood circulation in the penis, supporting a better quality, longer-lasting erection.
Matcha has also been shown to increase the libido of women and appears to help counter the negative effects the aging process can sometimes have on female sexual health.
The l-theanine matcha green tea contains has the ability to increase dopamine production. This important neurotransmitter is sometimes referred to as the “feel good chemical” because it activates the pleasure center in the brain, increases attraction, and encourages more enjoyable sexual activity.
How Much Macha to Use
Everyone is different, so there are no hard and fast rules about the best way to use matcha to enhance sex. Some people feel the benefit after just one cup. Others may need a little more. The optimum time to drink the tea is generally 30 minutes before having sex.
Green tea is a natural ingredient that can benefit the health in many ways and the unique way matcha is grown and prepared allows it to be a superior version. However, anyone who has existing health issues would be wise to have a chat with a doctor and seek some advice, prior to using matcha or any other form of aphrodisiac to spice up their sex life.
